The garden fix
This is perfect if you are looking for big-picture concepts regarding layout or planting ideas. My time can be booked by the hour and I can come to your home at a convenient time for you or we can meet online, where we can workshop ideas together. Also good for tackling a specific problem area in the garden. I will listen to your specific garden issue and then offer solutions based on years of design and gardening experience.
Past ‘fixes’ have included:
My garden layout is boring, please make it more interesting
My garden is an odd shape. How do I deal with this?
Where are the best places to grow fruit and vegetables in my garden?
Can you help me choose some trees and shrubs for the garden and show me where we should plant them?
Any sketches produced or recommendations given can be left with you or emailed through at the end of the meeting.
the garden review
Maybe you are unsure about what is in your garden or perhaps you’d like to know how to care for it? The Garden Review is a plant auditing service which starts with a garden visit. I can talk to you in person at this point to describe the plants in the garden and to give advice on how to maintain them. I will always follow-up with an email and a plant care guide, showing your monthly garden jobs as a checklist and tailored to the plants you have in your garden.
Past Review clients have included:
People who have just moved house and aren’t sure what’s in the garden
People who don’t have much gardening experience and need a starting point
People with limited time and who need a concise ‘to do’ list for garden care
the garden blueprint
This involves learning about your outdoor space and how you would like to use it. This is typically a full garden re-plan, where the layout and hard landscaping need some attention before any planting design.
The first stage in this process is for me to learn about you and your ideal outdoor space. I also measure and assess the garden, recording any observations. This is then written up as a brief.
Next, a series of mood or concept boards are produced for you to help prompt likes or dislikes or to convey ideas.
Using the feedback from the previous phase, I produce a series of concept plan options.
Again, after feedback, a final master plan is produced.
Further design stages can then be undertaken as necessary, including the production of lighting plans, planting plans, overseeing the work on site and planting up the garden to produce the end result. I like to work collaboratively with my clients, ensuring their buy-in at every stage and creating a garden that is unique to them and their needs.
the botanical selection
Upon completion of the master plan or if the overall layout of the garden works already, I can work on the selection of plants themselves, specifically curated for the soil type and aspect. Whether you want to promote pollinators, support biodiversity or create layers of interest, I will help to create a design that grows with you. As part of this service, you will receive:
A series of plant concept boards, based on the brief taken and suited to your garden
A planting plan showing the intended locations for the plants
A plant schedule listing the plant names and quantities needed
A plant care guide, giving you a monthly checklist of jobs for the garden
As an additional service, I can source the plants for you from trusted suppliers and / or plant them.
the garden steward
I offer a garden maintenance service to previous design clients and those with gardens of horticultural or ecological interest. If you think you fall into either of these categories, please contact me for rates and availability.
